Details

Embark on a journey to discover the stunning beauty of the Bavarian Alps with a ride on the Tegelberg Cable Car. This exciting journey begins at the heart of Germany and lifts you to the magnificent heights of the Tegelberg mountain, which stands tall at 1730 meters. An ideal destination for nature enthusiasts and adrenaline seekers alike, Tegelberg offers mesmerizing views, thrilling sports, and engaging hikes, promising an unforgettable experience for every visitor.

The Tegelberg Cable Car, or the Tegelbergbahn, as it is locally known, boasts a feat of engineering that takes you on a scenic ascent to the mountain peak. Each cabin is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 44 people. As the car smoothly ascends, within a span of roughly 10 minutes, you are treated to an unparallel spectacle of the Neuschwanstein Castle and the Ammer Mountains, arguably some of the best views in Germany.

The mountain’s peak isn’t just a visual treat, it’s also a popular launching spot for hang-gliders and parasailers. The clear, open sky coupled with the stunning Alpine backdrop creates a perfect setting for these exhilarating sports. Several ski and flight schools in Schwangau, also known as the village of the royal castles, stand ready to guide you in embarking on your personal mountain adventure.

If you’re more inclined towards tranquillity, you can engage in a soothing hike from the peak down to the renowned castles. This trek, lasting between two to three hours, winds down through serene trails, marked by signs leading to Königsschlösser. As you meander down the paths, the mountain’s serenity offers a moment of peaceful introspection in the heart of nature.

The Tegelberg Cable Car operates year-round, with differing hours depending on the season. During the summer, it runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last ascent at 4:45 p.m., while in winter, the hours shift slightly earlier to accommodate the changing daylight, operating from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Maintenance work to ensure the safety and comfort of your journey results in brief closures of the cableway during spring and autumn. These are well-documented and communicated in advance, so you can plan your visit accordingly.

The cable car’s journey and the experiences it offers aren’t merely a ride or an activity, but a comprehensive adventure package that immerses you in the Bavarian landscape. From the breathtaking panorama seen from the cabins to the thrill of hang-gliding, the peace of hiking, or the discovery of the royal castles, a trip to the Tegelberg is an exciting exploration of nature and a symphony of unforgettable experiences.

Join us in this extraordinary journey to witness, explore and fall in love with the German Alps. Let the Tegelberg Cable Car lift your spirits to the scenic beauty of Bavaria and create memories that will last a lifetime.
